Momentum is definately building for Mixercast.
New, and exciting features are being added all the time. Come back often and check them out in our Designer. You can now add RSS feeds from Twitter and Meebo to your Mixercast, as well as RSS feeds from your own Web services, like Flickr or Photobucket.

Please tell us how we can continue improving the experience for you, we will do our best to keep adding cool features as quickly as we can.

Our awesome tech team has been hard at work making the Mixercast experience great for you. Check back often for cool new features.

Just in case you missed this one- the RSS feed reader, its now available in the Properties section of our Designer. You can set up any multimedia RSS feed to be included in your Mixercast. So if you are heading to a party, take some cool pics with your mobile phone camera while you are there. Upload the pics to your favorite photo site, and create an RSS feed from that site directly in the Mixercast. Once your pics are uploaded from your phone to the web service, they will automatically appear in your Mixercast - whereever, it lives (on your Myspace page, your Bebo, your Xanga, your hi5… you get the picture pun intended))

How to have a custom Mixercasts size of your choice?

When you try to embed a Mixercast to your site/blog or anywhere else, you usually see those fixed width and height.

Well, the Mixercast Player or the embed player that you embed is totally liquid and resizeable in its core, so, you’re free to set that to the size you like. You can se the above to a typical Large Rectangle Advertisement size of 336 x 280 pixel.

Sometimes, you may like to set it to 100% width of your blog’s column but restrict the height -

Note: It is best to restrict the height as some browsers don’t really react well to a “100%” height.

Audiences, users, contributors and investors seem to have tremendous confidence in the Internet Media manipulation business these days. In a rather earth shaking news for the Internet-Media world, Techcrunch have reported that Joost has garnered a whooping $45 million in venture round of financing. Some of the lucky investors (wow! this time, it is the investors who want some part of the juice) include Sequoia Capital, Index Ventures, CBS Corporation, Viacom and Chinese billionaire Li Ka-shing. Viacom and CBS have also signed content deals with Joost.

Joost was started by Skype founders Janus Friis and Niklas Zennström in 2006. Joost is currently in private beta and is rumored to be launching within days. Joost is powered by a secure Internet platform that enables their premium, interactive video entertainment while still providing copyright protection for owners and creators. Best of all, it’s free for the rest of us, the users. Last week Joost released unlimited invites for existing beta testers.

We, at MixerCast welcomes such great and innovative development in the Internet-Media realm. The acceptance of Joost by Internet users will be a step towards the Internet-Media penetration and we will do our best to make our side of the experience as good as it gets.

MixerCast in the Blogosphere

We’re currently inundated with bloggers creating MixerCast, talking about them, telling us what they felt about the Web Application. There are also mainstream media like newspaper channels covering the same.

Tehelka asked if Will 2.0 Kill Internet Stars? They’re citing stories of the mushrooming boom of Web 2.0 Application across the Internet in general and the Indian participation in particular. They are talking about this new wave of free online communities that allow users to create their own content on the Web. They are surprised though not taken aback by the fact that these Web Applications are driven by young entrepreneurs with a passion for the Web.

A proficient Indian Flash ActionScript Programmer, Debabrataa was very happy with the new MixerCast update. He finds it more user-friendlier than before and was amazed at the fullscreen mode (Hey, Debabrataa, we love it too!). He loves trying out his home-town related videos. You can see a Hindi video-song sung by a budding Assamese singer.

Mashable appreciates the idea of widgets by many sites, including our own. Mashable feels that the idea of allowing exportable widgets to be embedded on individual sites/blogs or other social networking site is the trend these days. The option of letting users come back to the source through the widget is another key factor for embed widgets to propagate effectively across the Social Networking realm. MixerCast does all that and we’re right in the heart of those people who want to push the widgets around to other social networking sites and blogs.

The Tech Chronicles talks about how MixerCast users “become their own broadcaster, their own syndicatator, their own media person.”

Erick Schonfeld loves the idea of MixerCast’s “Let the audience play with the content.” He adds that, “Increasingly, content alone will have less value than what people can do with it. Time Warner should embrace this shift by making its content available in spliceable chunks and encouraging consumers to do with it what they will. The company should then observe how people come together in self-defining groups around reconstituted forms of content. Each group becomes a new niche to target with other media and ads. As audiences create their own content, production costs plummet.”

Massive media licensing deals signed

We, at MixerCast, are excited to announce licensing deals with well known content providers to allow MixerCast users to legally combine professionally-produced videos, music and images with their own content and hyper-syndicate the rich media mashups on the Internet.

Our recent Press Release at Yahoo! has more details;

Instead of broadcasting pre-packaged channels of content through a traditional media network model, MixerCast makes it easy for users to create, distribute and remix content from a variety of sources by using a rich set of editing and publishing tools, ad-infused and product-placement-ready templates, and open access to a large library of media content. Users can monetize their creative work by proactively adding advertising into their MixerCast content packages as they virally spread across the Web, which are then tracked by a robust set of built-in measurement systems.

With this agreements, comes a plethora of options to MixerCast users - they would now be able to have free access to more than 4,000,000 music samples and 50,000 video clips and images included in our content library. Through its partnership with Muze, MixerCast provides a broad variety of audio and video clip selections from content partners such as Universal Music Group, Virgin Records, Warner Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Disney Theatrical Films and Warner Home Video.

Pump Audio provides thousands of full tracks from independent performing artists. Through its pre-negotiated content deals, MixerCast also offers access to video clips and images from National Geographic and Getty Images.

Welcome to the Mixercast blog. As we post this, the site is in private Alpha and we are very excited about a public beta. When we do that, we will use this space to communicate all the happenings on our end. In addition, we are putting up a forum so that we can get a conversation started about anything we can do to improve the Mixercast experience. For now, thanks for stopping by.
